    New US Ambassador Brent Christensen holds first meeting with BNP chief Tarique

    Newly-appointed United States Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent Christensen has met BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.

    The meeting took place around 4pm on Monday at the BNP chairman’s office in Gulshan, party sources said.

    The US ambassador was accompanied by officials from the embassy.

    BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee Member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Joint Secretary General Humayun Kabir, member of the chairperson’s advisory council Mahadi Amin, and Press Secretary Saleh Shibli were present during the meeting.

    This was the first meeting between the US ambassador and the BNP chair since Christensen formally assumed his duties in Dhaka.

    Later in the evening, Tarique also met ambassadors of European Union member states, led by EU Ambassador Michael Miller, at his Gulshan office.
